Reload archived data into DSO after structural changes

Hi all,

I have a DSO object, which is partially archived in production system (using Data Archiving Process with ADK).

We plan to change the structure of the DSO meaning to add 2 new key figures to its definition in development system.

What will happen, when we transport the changes from development to production.

Will the transport crash?

Is it possible to change the structure (that is adding InfoObjects) of a DSO for which data has been archived?

Furthermore, if the changing is possible is it then still possible to reload the data from the DSO, so that all the "old" fields will get filled by the archived data for each record and that the "new" fields will just be left blank (or filled with SAP's default value for that InfoObject type)?

Thanks for any answers or references to any links, documents, etc. in advance!

Best regards,

Philipp

Hi:

As far as the changes do not remove any of the previously existing fields, I don't think you'll have any problem. Either transporting or reloading your data.

If you wana be safe, just create a copy of the ODS, transport it to QA. Then make the changes in Dev, tansport and check results.

But, again, I think you'll be just fine.

Regards,

Luis
