Hello All,

I am exploring options to pull the data from Oracle database from SAP CPI iFlow. As per my understanding, we need to create Oracle DB Server config in SAP Cloud Connector UI inorder to establish the communication with the Outside world(SAP CPI in our case).

But after looking at the Cloud Connector config screens,I dont see the JDBC protocol option in the listed protocols. Can any suggest how to configure DB server in Cloud Connector so that communication with CPI can happen.

Hi Siva

There are two problems:

  1. The JDBC adapter is not yet available in CPI (scheduled for Q2/2018)
  2. JDBC is not yet a directly supported protocol in Cloud Connector

As for the second point, you can get a JDBC connection to an on-premise database from a Java application running on SAP Cloud Platform, by going through a SOCKS5 proxy and Cloud Connector's support for the TCP protocol. Check out this very nice blog by Philipp Stehle for more information on how to do this.

Keep in mind, however, that if the Oracle database supports exposing data through an HTTP based service, you would be able to call that service from CPI through Cloud Connector.
