Design Studio hierarchies and averages

Hello,

I'm creating several components within DS and come across an issue.

I've created a table within SAP HANA. This table contains test data with a hierarchy in it (based on geographic logic.. World -> Continent -> Country -> Region -> City).
The dataset contains two measures: Target and Actual. These two are defined as a SUM aggregation.

I have created a Calculated Column, which calculates a ratio for Actual-Target and is defined as AVG aggregation.

When i use this Calculation View in Design Studio the ratio will only show up correctly for the lowest level in the hierarchy. For the other levels it will sum the values (as shown in below picture [the green circle is correct, the others are faulthy], don't mind my great Paint skills).

However this works correctly for both:

  • HANA Preview on the Calculation view
  • When I build a Crosstab on the same CV in Lumira.

So it seems Design Studio automatically sums measures, instead of checking what has been defined in the HANA View.

Is there some solution for my issue?

Kind regards,

Jeroen Donkers

Jeroen - your Paint skills are just fine :)

Would you review these SAP notes to see if they apply: https://launchpad.support.sap.com/#/notes/1902733/E

    https://launchpad.support.sap.com/#/notes/2038663/E

Also this SAP note is interesting (but not related to your issue: https://launchpad.support.sap.com/#/notes/2343234/E

Thank you Tammy for your response.

The first SAP note you provided (1902733) covers my issue 'ERROR as aggregated value in Hierarchy Node'. Therefore i'll try to solve this issue with installing the DS Add-on for DS 1.6 patch 3.

I'll let you know if this solves my issue.

    Kind regards,

Unfortunately mentioned solution is only applicable to Design Studio, when using the BI Platform Server.
