Is it possible to move/copy existing SAP BW 3.5 version system to another BW(7.3 version box).

our client has two BW boxes one is 3.5 and other is 7.3 version.

we are looking for possible below options.

1.) Inline upgrade to better suitable version upgrade from BW 3.5.

2.) copy/move the existing BW 3.5 box to another existing BW 7.3 box thereby decomissioning 3.5. with this appraoch they can maintain one BW box.

3.) effort estimation for new BW setup. how can we classify the BW objects based on the complexity high, medium & low. is there any way we can get the list of infoobjects, ODS, cubes, routines, queries, etc.

1.) as per PAM, we can upgrade from 3.5 to 7.3 but looking for some suggestions if anyone has done earlier.

2.)we need some expertise advise to combine 2 boxes of different BW versions & Db's to one single box .

1. I think you should upgrade first your 3.5 to 7.0 before you can proceed to 7.3. Not sure with this.

2. I'm not sure but I think you can only migrate 3.5 system to 7.3 but you cannot add or insert your 3.5 configs to your current 7.3 box. So I think the only solution would be to re-do the configs in your 3.5 system then connect your 3.5 to 7.3 so you can get your data from 3.5. But try to ask your basis if there is a way to combine 2 boxes, but I did not hear or try yet something like that.
