Hello Their,

We are initiating the Oracle database export and Import activity to refresh our one of the development environment with Quality system. Since we don’t have a backup restore method availability we are chosen to go ahead with Database export Import activity with SWPM 1.0 and perform post refresh/import activities such as BDLS run, Updating the partner profiles, creating the clients etc .

I would like to provide my system details before I post my questions.

Source system : AS ABAP

ECC 6.0 EHP7

ASCS/PAS : Linux

Oracle database on ASM : AIX

Oracle version : 11.2.0.3.0

Target system : AS ABAP

ECC 6.0 EHP7

ASCS/PAS : Linux

Oracle database on ASM : AIX

Oracle version : 11.2.0.3.0

Here is my questions,

  • 1.Is above mentioned process / method what we are thinking is correct ?
  • 2.Do we need to consider any data deletion similar to refresh activity oracle data file deletion in target system before proceed with import activity ?
  • 3.Can you please share me any documents for SWPM/SAPINST import export documents this would be really helpful.
  • 4.SWPM has to be started with ‘root’ user id though will it setup oracle : oinstall permissions for ASM landscape of oracle database ?

I really appreciate your help.

All the steps are described in the System Copy Guide:

Why backup / restore is not an option for you?
