Hi,

How do we maintain the sales order doc types?

when the client has business across the globe,

Is it maintained country wise like,

for eg:India ZIOR,ZIDR,ZICR etc,for China ZCOR,ZCDR,ZCCR and so on,

If we maintain like this, say for 20 countries we have to maintain many sales doc types.

what is the standard practice of having minium sales order doc types?

pls write,

Regards

SR

Hi,

The best way is just maintain common sales document types for all countries.. Any way for domesting and exports these are all will be configured in material master and customer master for relevant taxes..

So any how sales documents are not country specific...

Dear SR

Both your sale order types and pricing procedures can be based on the products through which it is distributed, viz. domestic, exports, STO and Depot. If the style of business in domestic pricing is entirely different, may be you can go for different pricing procedures. It is always better to have minimum document types and pricing procedures.

Last but not least, I feel maintaining sale document type country wise is not necessary.

thanks

Hi,

Thanks for the feedback,

country is just an example which i used, to explain that client has many sales doc types based on the regions.

The question is, what is the best practice to maintain minimum sales order types(is it common sales doc types?), which can be used across the globe for all the customers.

Dear Syed

As already stated, if you are following standard OR for all regions, it is better to have one sale document type. Of course, you yourself can compare the existing document types and decide whether really all those are needed and what is the difference between those sale document types in terms of screens.

Hi,

Thanks,

We already have many sales doc types, if the common sales doc type are proposed, i think there will be an impact on the below,

current ZReports

pricing procedure determination

output control

No ranges

Is there any other areas/processes which may get affected, if we propose common doc types.

pls suggest

In my opinion, sometimes you could try to use item cat.instead of order type .users always request to have many sales order type to identify what it is just like FG,Parts,Warranty Parts and so on.we use the same order type with different item cat. to avoid lots of order type because it's not easy to manage them.

Hello Syed,

What is the drive/idea behind country specific sales doc types?

The client would have some idea like handling taxes, or something else which, I guess is the basis for creating country-specific sales doc types.

And further, even if you create country specific when you actually create a sales order--the system is NOT going to recognise the country and map it to the corresponding doc type..there is not country specific setting in a sales doc type, as far as I know.

If you find out, probably we can help you further .

Rgds,

Raghu.
