How can I force log backup

Hi

Question:

How can I force HANA to backup the log file with committed transactions now?

.

.

More info:

I can see in an old post someone asking why you need this. Here's one reason why.

In our environment, log backup destination path is a NAS filesystem. This file system is replicated at DR site. HANA configuration global.ini->Persistence: log_backup_timeout_s is set to 900 seconds (15 minutes). This mean that my recovery point objective (RPO) is 15 minutes. This represent the maximum data loss in a DR situation.

We are doing recovery test at our DR site. The application is executing transactions. I need to recover the HANA database with these transactions (no data loss). Waiting for the log_backup_timeout_s to occur is not acceptable. I would like for force log backup right after the application completed is last transaction.

Note: I am skipping some details, I understand that we can have replication for DR. I also understand that we can change the value of log_backup_timeout_s to a low value.

Thanks

You can trigger a log backup via

    hdbcons "log backup"

Not sure though how that helps you with a recovery scenario, where the application can continue to run transactions.

Also, since this relies on manual activity, you won't lower the RPO in case the first data centre goes dark.
