Hi Experts

I am encoutering job server issue with SAP BODS 4.2.8 in 64 bit Windows server 2012

with SQL Server 2014.

Client having same version in win64

I have read through all the previous posts of users that were having this error pop up and I tried all those suggestions and I am still not able to get a job running from a remote connection through the comm port. Here is what I have done:

1. Verified on the physical server that the AL_* jobs are running
2. Verified that the Business Objects Data Services services is running
3. Successfully ran a job ON the physical server
4. Confirmed port 3500 is allowed on the server (Telnet from remote to port 3500 does not respond despite port 3500 is open on the network server and firewall is off both on server and remote (my laptop) Telnet with port 6400 is succesfull
5. Confirmed that DS program is a firewall exception on both the server and the remote computer

Could really use some help figuring out what is apparently not running.

Can you post the error message please. Can you please make sure that the Remote Server and DS job Server are both on the same network domain.

Regards

Hi Arun,

Thanks

1. when i run a job from the the server (where data services installed aws windows server 2012) it works fine so the job is executed succesfully.

2. when i run a job fom CMC port 8080 (on my home network via internet explorer) the is executed succecfully.

3. When i run a job from designer ( from my laptop home network) below error message is raised

Job Server Error BODI-1241023

you asked: please make sure that the Remote Server and DS job Server are both on the same network domain

answer: we have installed ds and job server on the machine since its used for training purpose.

therefore, remote and ds server are on same network domain.

once again: i am able to telnet to ours aws server on port 6400 from my laptop. i get an blank screen.

When trying to telnet on port 3500 to our aws server port 3500 nothing happens i dont get through.

@ Dirk Venken or any other expert any suggestions?

Thanks

You'll have to fix the problem to port 3500. Or try another one. You won't be able to run jobs from DS Designer when bidirectional communication between DS client and server is not working.

One of the reasons, I never install DS client software on a client machine. Use a WTS or run directly on the server. Remote Desktop Connection aka mstsc always works fine for me.

Hi Dirk

Thanks for your input. Remote desktop on the server is allowed only for one user. We use data service for internal training purpose so if we extend our aws winsdows server 2012 (where both job server and ips runs) then we have to pay huge license costs. can you pershaps elaborate on connecting via windows terminal server?

what are the steps to achieve this?

thanks

I am not familiar with aws license prices. But a Windows server 10-user CAL will cost you less than 150€. Can't you expedite that to aws?
