Define Results Analysis Keys

In this step you create keys that contain control parameters for the calculation of work in process.

You can calculate work in process for the following orders:

Production orders with quantity structure (PP), if the confirmation is made separately for each operation and not at header level

Production orders without quantity structure (CO)

Run schedule headers, if reporting point quantities can be entered

Process orders, if the confirmation is made separately for each operation and not at header level

The results analysis key is entered into the master records of the orders through the default values for each order type and plant.

Standard settings

The standard system contains predefined results analysis keys.

Recommendation

SAP recommends that you use a standard results analysis key.

Activities

1. Check whether the results analyis keys supplied with the standard system meet your requirements.

2. If you do not want to use the results analysis keys supplied with the standard system, create a new results analysis key as follows:

a) Enter a name for the new results analysis key.

b) Enter the results analysis key as a default value for the relevant order type and the relevant plant.

Define default values for each order type

Further notes

WIP calculation calculates the work in process for each order or production cost collector in the Product Cost by Order component and in the Product Cost by Period component.

Work in Process with Valuated Sales Order or Project Stock

In Release 4.0 you can calcualte work in process not only for materials in the non-customer stock but also for materials in a sales order stock and in a project stock if this stock is valuated (see also Check requirements classes.

Work in Process with Nonvaluated Sales Order or Project Stock

If you are using a nonvaluated sales order stock or project stock, on the other hand, the work in process for the orders assigned to a sales order or project is normally calculated in results analysis for the sales order or project.

The WIP on dependent orders indicator in the results analysis version enables you to specify that work in process can be calculated separately for the assigned orders. In this case, the results analysis key specified in the order takes precedence:

If no results analysis key is entered for the order, the actual costs for the order are taken into account in results analysis for the sales order or project. Settlement is carried out through the sales order or project.

If a results analysis key is entered for the order, work in process for the order is created and settled in the amount of the actual costs. These costs are not taken into account in results analysis for the sales order or project. This procedure is recommended mainly for production across company codes.

RA is required for calculating Work in process of production orders. At period end you specify which cost with in the production order need to be capitalised as WIP.

Without the RA Key properly set up and assigned, we cannot calculate WIP.

Hi

To add to Sridhar's reply.

Results can be viewed once RA (KKA2 or KKAJ) is execute. If you need more explanation, after executing RA goto Logs > Explanation Facility.

Do note that KKA2 or KKAJ will not make any postings but will only calculate WIP. To post the entries you need to execute CJ88
