Group BOM

Hi,

Group BOM is not specific to any plant.It is created in engg/design dept and later it is assigned to any plant.

Group Bom is independent of plant and you can create the Group bom using the same transaction CS01, without entering a plant.

Once you created the group bom , you can assign to individual plants using CS07.

Be aware, if you make any changes in the group bom it will affects all the plants assigned to it.

Dear Kaushalji,

As mentioned by Mr.Thiagarajan, a group BOM is a number used to identify a group of BOM's.

Example - A number of tube lights are being manufactured by a company, the tube is same but the shade is of different material and shape. If you create a BOM for each type of tube light, we will end up with let us say 15 types. Now in order to group these together under one heading light 220v/60W, we need the group BOM, transaction cs05. This is a group of Multiple BOMS.

The group BOM can also consist of a number of variant BOMs, where the BOMs are for similar material or assembly(ex.Pump), but for different impeller materials(steel,carbon steel,mild steel,alloy steel etc..)

Mainly used in production planning.

Dear Thiyagrajan,

Can you put some more lights on it. I got the defination. As it says that clubbing of more than one BOM and than system internal number for this BOM.

Now my question is how to create Group BOM and how to use it in practical scenario.

hi

while creating the BOM itself in the header tab page you can specify the BOM group and save it ,the BOM group will be created

or use CS05 to create,while creating either you can specify the created BOM or you can specify the material and usage in the initial screen
