SUM restart required if SDT is not connected and SUM is in dialog mode

Dear all,

we are using SUM version 2.0 SP00 pl9. Typically we are closing SDT Gui when we expect the upcoming phases to be running a for a while. Opening SDT Gui again after some hours frequently starts with the message that the tool is not running and we need to restart it. Mostly this occurs if SUM is in dialog state. Seems that the SUM worker process fells asleep if it has nothing to do.

Former SUM versions didn't have such a behaviour. Unfortunately I don't remember the first SUM release where I recognized this. I would have expected that SDT Gui shows the dialog screen where SUM stopped, even if this happens hours ago.

Also we experienced another "new behaviour" when reconnecting to SDT Gui after a while - message says that SAPup processes are still running and you have the options to either "check status again", "Wait for processes to finish" or "I checked on OS level that these processes are not related to the upgrade program. Continue". In previous releases of SUM you just saw again the phase which is running currently when reconnecting SDT Gui.

My question: Does anybody experience the same and can the "sleep mode" described at the beginning be prevented ?

Thanks for any feedback,

Juergen
