Business Objects - Dimensions

Does anyone know how to change a created variable from a measure to a dimension?

I'm trying to convert the following formula from a measure to a dimension, which I have used in the old 5.1 version of BO:

= If <Variable1>="01 " And <Variable2>="01 "Then "yes" Else "no"

Previously I have been able to use this as a dimension and therefore do rankings etc however in XI I'm unable to change a measure to a dimension.
