Is loading DSO to InfoCube via 3.x Technology in NW04S Obsolete?

Hi,

Is loading data from a DSO to InfoCube via 3.x technology (DSO > Export DataSource > Transfer Rule > Update Rule > InfoCube) obsolete? These objects were created in BI 3.x and we subsequently upgraded our system to NW04S but we kept the load process between DSO to InfoCube with the 3.x technology. We are loading the InfoCube via InfoPackage . We are NOT using Transformations and DTP. Our plan is to migrate this load process to the NW04S methodology (Transformations and DTPs) at a later date.

My concern is that OSS is indicating to me that loading data from DSO to InfoCube via the 3.x technology is now obsolete due to MYSELF Source System being obsolete and that we need to migrate all of our DSO to InfoCube loads to Transformation/DTPs since the 3.x technoloyg is no longer support. But my understanding is that 3.x technology can co-exist with NW04S without any issues.

Is this true?

Thanks.

After pointing out different OSS Notes and SAP presentations indicating that SAP 3.x functionality is supported in NW04S, the SAP developer rescinded what he said and indicated that SAP 3.x functionality is supported as we all thought.

Thanks for everyone's responses and help.

Hi,

You are right. The old dataflow should continue to function fine in a BW system upgraded to BI 7.0. I am not really sure where you got the impression that these would not work. There might be some issues at some places which you will have to deal with, on a case by case basis. But in general, things should work fine.
