Hello

What are the ways to import and export data from a cloud application. For example from SuccessFactors to premise HCM. Is API the always preferred way ? What is the best approach for querying data when one of the application is a cloud application.

Thanks

Hello Sudesh,

What data you are looking to import from Cloud applications? For most of the cloud solutions like SuccessFactors, C4C, Concur etc. there are pre-packaged contents available in SAP CPI which can be used as middleware to push/pull the data to/from cloud application. SAP CPI with SAP Cloud Connector is the prescribed way to connect Cloud application to on-premise ERP system.

Hi Nitin

Thanks for the inputs. What I wanted to know exactly is that within SAP CPI, is API the only way to import / export data from any SAP cloud application ??. ie Does CPI uses API alone to extract data.. Example SFAPI is used by the successfactors. Is there any other way CPI can use any other technology other than API for import/export of data ?

Thanks

Sudesh

Hello Sudesh,

SAP CPI has many other adapters like SFTP, IDoc, RFC, Mail etc. So you can use these to connect the cloud applications and perform your actions, provided the cloud application supports this. IDoc and RFC would be to connect to your SAP system. SFTP would be for some file server and Mail for mail server.
