Wanted to check if we run dedicated SAP NW Fiori & S4hana servers in private subnet enveloped with private VPN network , In such a scenario - Is web dispatcher still necessary in a Non Internet facing scenario . S4HANA ~450 Users , Fiori ~ 100 users.? Because we can browse the Fiori URL via fiori client directly and use DNS alias to mask the Fiori hostname ?
It seems that in your scenario you do not NEED a Web Dispatcher if you make the S/4HANA Backend and Fiori Frontend servers appear to be the same via DNS aliases, but I would still RECOMMEND to use one because it is the supported architecture and could save you time arguing with SAP Support in case of issues.
