Hi Team,

Some days ago I was told that Oracle Grid Control was not certified by SAP to do monitoring, so my question is simple: Is Oracle Grid Control certified to monitor an Oracle DataBase that are running SAP? I can't see why it shouldn't be certified, it is just an application.

SAP note 105047 can answer your concern, please part "Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM)".

Best regards,

Hi James,

You are right. But the answer is more a theoretical one rather then a technical one.

At SAP we have DBACOCKPIT and BR*Tools. So this is what we supports currently. The reason is that these tools are throughoutly tested internally and we can give you a 100% confirmation that the whole system operates with our tools without having a negative impact on the whole system.

But the same is not true to other Oracle Tools like GRID Control or Enterprise manager, etc. We know that these tools are existing but since we did not test them, we can not certificate them. It is possible to use them (under certain cisrcumstances, like if you have the license) but SAP Support can not help you if you have difficulties or problems.
