Renaming of a BW Development system

Hello all.

After the merger of two companies we have had a situation in which the two BW development systems have the same <SID>. This is causing multiple issues with our application team in terms of connecting to source system and also for our DBA team since they have the same SID's at the ORACLE level.

Couple of questions:

1. What happens to the object history? We should still be able to access all the history since they are all maintained in E070 - is that accurate? Should we be releasing all the Modified Transport entries in the BD1 system before embarking on the rename?

2. Any specific documentation for BW Rename that will help?

3. Should we delete the source system connections first in the development system and then after the ORACLE rename, run BDLS in the new renamed system? I am looking at Note 886102 and am thinking scenario B3 might be best for this scenario any suggestions?
