Hi,
While creating an index,in the "Service" drop down there are TREX Search,
TREX Search And Classification,
TREX Classification and
Portal Roles Search.
Could someone please tell me when each one of these are used?
Thanks,
Sudha.
Hi Sudha,
Portal Roles Search
The objects found using the portalRolesSearch index service in the PCD cache are converted to KM objects and can be displayed in the search results list.

TREX Classification
Helps in the classification of documents.Classification causes documents to be assigned to one or more categories of an existing taxonomy

It depends on the kind of search you want to enable for your project.
Hope this helps.

Hi Sudha,
you have to configure the Web repositories and then crawl and index them.

Vijay,
I have a scenario as follows:
The administrator defines a set of search criteria to search on the Internet(Something like the Advanced search in google).
For the end user, the iview should search the internet based on the criteria set by the administrator and display the search results.
The end user should not be able to see the search criteria.
When the end user clicks on the page, the search results should directly be displayed.
Only the administrator sets the search criteria.
Could you please suggest how this can be achieved?
Thanks in advance,
Sudha.
Hi Sudha,
first configure the web repository using index administration iview.
suppose if u wanna index more website then group all the index to a particular index group.
now create KM Search Iview.
then follow this thread
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/thread?threadID=925705&tstart=0
which will explain you how to set index group as default for a km search iview.
Regards,
Vijay.
HI
KM Search iView to search for items in KM repositories ,
since u index the web repository, which is a part of km repository it should get the content from web.
try this:
go to advance option in search ( fro masthead )
select your index what u had created for web repository
whether it is retrieving the content from internet or not.
if this works then my previous idea will also work
regards,
vijay.
