Hi Gurus

my question is whether i can save a single query in different roles like sales manager and sales Vice-president and i guess i can but the real question is how? because when i try to save a query lying in my favorites and i try to assign it to the role of sales manager, i get an error message that "query already exists with this technical name, chose a different name" so am i suppose to choose a different name ...which does not make sense so could somebody tell me how to go about it..I am working on BI 7.

Hi,

For what its worth, we only publish workbooks or web templates to roles rather than queries.

You can provide a more tailored solution with these options (i.e. Multiple queries in a workbook, Print formatting in place, additional options on Conditions and Exceptions etc.)

If you do want to use the query option, your BEx Browser will allow you drag and drop objects into multiple roles.

Hi,

You can also directly assign a query in Role Maintenance 'PFCG'-'S_RS_COMP'-'RSZCOMPID' and inlcude all the technical names of the Query under this.

Same way you can add the same query to as many number of roles you want.

Also note that, you need to iinclude the respective 'Info provider' name in RSECADMIN (if you are in BI7.0) else you should include the info providers, Info area etc in the role maintenance itself.

Thanks n Regards

Hello,

You don't need to save the query to assign it to a role.

Do this:

Go to BEx and choose open query.

Search for the query that you want to insert into the role.

Select that query

Push the third button in that window (from left to right) "Enter in role".

Now you'll see all the roles that you can assign the query

Choose the right path and there you go.

The query is inside the role selected.

Assign points if helpful.
