Hi,
what is the recommended maximum number of base members in a single dimension?
Thanks,
Anders
65K limitation is for Excel and not for the application. We can load more than 65K memebers and with SP3, even we will should be able to view more than 65K members in the 'maintain dimension members' in multiple worksheets, thereby still within 65K rows per worksheet Excel limit. However it will affect the performance. Also please note that the dimensions are cached on the client.

The 65 k limitation refers to excel limitation or It is an application one. With excel 2007 is there the same limitation?
Thanks
Sergio

There is no recommended number of base members. It depends on the needs of the customer. Although under 65K members they can be maintained in the administration console, while above 65K they need to be automatically maintained in SQL server via an SSIS package, which is a little more difficult to setup.

I am aware of the limitation of 65k members through the admin console and have loaded and processed my members (300k) via a SSIS package but what I need to know is how this affect the performance of the system? I know it is possible to use an unlimited number of members but it seem to affect the perfomance a lot?
