People often irritate me at work:
Not flushing the toilet after using it.
Getting into the lift before I have a chance to step out.
Bumping into my chair even though there is enough room to avoid me.
What behavior do you find irritating at work?

Lately, there has been a significant increase in postings by a Mr. Gumpinger, which would have all necessary ingredients to irritate me, could I be irritated at all, that is.

Hi Christian -
First, let me say that I personally like your style and am also sympathetic to your point of view as to whether really inane posts should be welcome at the Coffee Corner.
But second, let me also say that I know from personal SDN experience that your style won't work at SDN. (Craig and a few others will know what I mean here.)
So, if you're willing to accept advice from someone who is actually sympathetic to your point of view, back off a little.
What I mean by "back off" is the following.
If you want to comment on the fact that inane posts should not even be welcomed at the Coffee Corner, then do a Coffee Corner post of your own on this topic without mentioning any names.
That way, issues of "style" will not interfere with the main point you're trying to make.

Hi Nathan -
As I said, it's immaterial whether I personally like Christian's style or not.
What's important is for him to understand, as I have come to understand, that it's not a style which will "work" at SDN.
That doesn't mean he can't make his opinions known - he just has to find a way to do it that doesn't "raise as much dust".
I believe it is was William Strunk who said:
Style is a matter of getting where you want to go while raising the least dust.
Or something like that.
