Hi Karthikeyan,
For IDOCs we need to have a Business System as you are gonna communicate with the other server(lets say ECC). So a connection has to be established between the sender and the reciever system. Bysiness System created in SLD have the Logical System assigned to them, which is used to communicate with the other syste. In the Logical Syatem we provide the Servers IP and the User credentials required.
I hope its clearer now.

Sanjeev.
Hi Karthik,
We can even work with business services witout creating a Business System which we can create in the ID.
Am i right?
Yes, You r right..but Busyness service is used when you want to address an abstract business entity as the sender or receiver of messages.where as business system is an actual application system in a system landscape.
You use idoc communication with SAP system where you have all techncial informaton. So you obviously go with the business system as SAP system is not an abstract entity.
Hope its clear.
Thanks,
Vijaya.
Thanks Vijaya,

Thanks,
Vijaya.
Hi,
IDoc's are client specific. So, for IDoc scenario business system should be defined in SLD.
