Thru idoc u r not sending data from one clien to another....

    In a Lay man's language..

But the data transfer is usually between SAP and non SAP sytems..

Like u send the data from SAP to the other non SAP system thru flat files..(text files), and vice versa.

When the other sytem send the SAP system..data thru flat files...it needs to be converted to a format in which SAP can recognize it...

    Hi Srivasu,

We usually send Master data between two clients of the SAP system with the help of ALE. If you check any of the master data tables in SAP all are client dependent, so the master data in one client is not reflected in another client.

That's the reason we transfer data between 2 clients of SAP.

Most of the standard tables in SAP are client dependent.

I hope I have answered your question.

    Thanks,

    Mahesh.

    Hi sri,

ALE is mechanism of transferring data between SAP to SAP system.

Here SAP to SAP means it can be from

    R/3 to CRM,

    CRM to SRM,

    SRM to BW.

ie: by using ALE mechanism we can connect to any sap system.

And the data which is been transafered between 2 SAP systems is in the form of idocs.

If u want to connect to other than sap ie:

sap to non sap we can connect using EDI or XI.

    i hope u got it.

if not tell me what exactly u want in ALE or IDOCS, i will let u know.

    Regards,

    satish.

    reward if helpful.

As mahesh mentioned, we also use ALE to transfer master data between our SAP HR and SAP Logistics servers. We have data going both ways - Employee data out of HR and FI data out of Logistics.

In addition to this horizontal transfer, we have ALE setup to transfer data vertically. We have ALE setup to transfer EE master data from our HR Production server to our HR QA server.

You can, if you so desire, transfer data from Client 100 to 120 (or whatever clients you have) within the same server using ALE.
