Material Tracking

HI Gurus,

My client has used one material code in different business groups.Currently it has four business group and same material is used in different business groups. At present they are keeping the material in separate bin. They want to keep the same material in one bin but identification should be as per business groups.

Ex: Material X is used in Business Group 1 and 2.Business Group 1 has procure 500 nos and Business Group 2 has procure 1000 nos. Both are kept in one bin.How system will differentiate the same material code business wise.

How will map in SAP???

Any suggestion will be appreciated.

Thanks& Regards

Pranaya

    Hi,

Consider Business Group as "Plant" in SAP and you can create single BIN (Storage Location) under all four plants.

If you are treating BIN as storage location then create same storage location under all 4 plants in OX09.

      Hi,

If the business group is similiar as a plant, you can split valuation. For each business group wise you can maintain the price and you can monitor the stock also.

But while creating Purchase order you hve to mention the valuation type for the material(Each business group have one Valuation type).

Here the problem is you cant raise cumulative Purchase Order for all the business group for the same material.

    Hi Pranaya,

What 'business group' means in relation to SAP terminology? To which SAP organisation level or something it corresponds? The question is whether these business groups are present in SAP somehow...

Genrally, you can use split valuation if you want to make difference between the stocks of the same material. You can use it e.g. if you want to know which stocks come from external / internal procurement, what is the origin of your stocks.

But I'm not sure that this can be used in case of 'business groups' .

    You can also use batch management to make difference between stocks. E.g. you have business groups A, B, C, D > you can use batches like A0001, ..., A0987, B0001, ..., B0278, C0001, ..., C0033, D0001, ..., D0098, etc

If business groups represents different ownership (they corresponds to plants) you cannot use one SLoc to store them since one SLoc can belong to one plant. One SLoc cannot elong to different plants.

One WH can belong to different plants if it is connected (assigned) to the SLoc of those plants.

    Please clarify your question.

    Thanks,

    Csaba
