Remove Batch Management and Split Valuation Dependencies

Hi,

I need to remove Batch Management Indicator and Split Valuation for a material. Which one should I do first? Are these dependent on one another?

Thanks,

Jograd

You are correct. It did cause lots of error when i tried to do it in test client.

I am trying to remove the valuation category of one right now. It has zero stock and no open documents.

I saw in note Note 155874 - Change valuation category in material master that you need to do this:

    2. If you change from split to joint valuation, no valuation data must

    exist for a valuation type.

I dont know where to start doing that? Because there is not data for the material. However i noticed that there is valuation for previous period. do i need to delete that too? But there are no stocks for the previous period.

    Please help.

    Thanks,

    Jograd

You don't have to worry about the previous period data. If the current valuation is zero, then, go ahead. The system will allow you to change the valuation category. This is not is SPRO, you must do it in your master data. Then, you can remove the category in SPRO, if you want.

    Hi there,

no it is not mutually dependant. You can remove the batch management first, or split valuation first. But I recommend remove the batch management first.

I hope that the material stock is zero, because you can't remove the split valuation if the material contains stock.

If the material contains stock, I would like to suggest charging out the stock first, before removing the batch management and split valuation. This is to avoid any problems when your user try to do goods issue with materials with batch. Then after you have done the changes, you can do stock entry - initial stock entry 561 is the best.

Can I just deactivate the valuation types and categories and not change it in material master?

    Thanks,

You mean, in SPRO? What will happen to the existing materials? I suppose you can try and do it in your test client. From personal experience, if the valuation type is missing, or changed improperly, you may not be able to do any goods issue/receive for the material, because of the accounting posting controlled by the valuation is gone already.

Like I mentioned earlier, if the material has no stock/value, then you are free to do whatever you like, but if the material is active, then you have to consider what is the impact of the config will have on the materials.
