Maximum Number of Sections

I seem to be experiencing a problem with the number of detail sections I am adding to my report. It runs fine with 80 detail sections. Once I add section 81 the report fails to load.

I am using CR version 10. I am creating this to run as a link from my website so I am using the Crystal Reports insde Microsoft Visual Studio. This report was originally created in an earlier version of CR (possibly 9.1). I ran into this problem there at 41 sections. The solution was to delete the automatically generated vb file. What was happening was a naming conflict after the 41st section was added the names started repeating. Since this file was generated automatically there was nothing to be done. That is when I discovered the vb file was not necessary and could just simply be deleted. Now I do not see the vb file with version 10 so I am not sure how to get around this. So the report that was finally working in earlier version is no longer working in version 10. Ugh!!!!

Any ideas or information on this issue will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

    Hi Renee,

I am not understanding your issue clearly.

Is the problem that you cant have more than 80 sections or are you now seeing it fail on 41 sections and want to get back to having it fail at 80?

80 is the maximum number of sections in any single area of a report (detail, header, etc) when viewing in .NET and 10.

    Kbase on the issue:

To clarify my question this is the exact report that I used with a previous version of Crystal Reports. I believe it was 9.1. And with a work around I was able to get it to work. Now the only thing that has changed is that we upgraded to a newer version of Crystal Reports (10) and it no longer works (due to the fact that there are more than 80 sections). So I guess we are moving backwards in the new version of Crystal Reports we do not have the same capabilities as we did in a previous version. Very disapointing!

Anyway thanks for your speedy response along with the docs to back it up! At least I have an answer, even if it is not what I wanted to hear.
