SLD System Migration Steps from DC to AWS

Hi All,

We are planning to migrate our QA & PROD SLD Systems (Java) (NW 7.4) with Oracle DB Ver 12. from our DC to AWS using Export / Import method with SWPM. I appreciate if anyone could kindly share pre & post check list and step by step document or share steps here. I have taken a test online export to asses the size of export file which came around 2GB....

I need advise on prep work to be done in target server(AWS) and also do I need to install oracle 12 on target before import?

Thanks,

Hi Nagendra,

I can't speak to what steps are required specifically for AWS. Don't they spin up the basic instance on your behalf, and then you just need to configure it? We don't use AWS -- or any other cloud server -- here, so I don't know the answer.

But I can speak to the general steps required to migrate an SLD from one host to another. While not specific to Oracle (we use SQL Server here), I wrote a blog a long time ago about installing a new NetWeaver Java system (using NW 7.4), and that's pretty much your first step, so:

Of course, now there would be no reason not to go for NW 7.5. In fact, I'd highly recommend it, as it's easier to manage generally than 7.4.

For the SLD specific steps, there a bunch of old blogs, online help documents, and so forth. I addressed one of the main gotchas that we encountered in this process in another old blog, and as part of that blog I included links to the relevant online documents that will help you plan your migration, so this may be useful for you:

While not specific to migrating an SLD, I also wrote about some aspects for system export/import via SWPM that you may find useful:

Cheers,
