Functional area - COS activation

Hi,

I would like to activate Cost of sales accounting after production go-live. At the moment in Company Code parameters Cost of Sales accounting is set as "1 - in process". I think I need to change it into "2-active" to be able to create COS P&L Fin. statement basing on functional areas.

Is there any risk that changing The COS accounting parameter in company code from 1 to 2 can do any harm to the system after go live? I hope that activation of COS accounting can be done at any moment without consequences.

Regards,

Karol

The following things happens when the status is "in process" vs "Active":

    In process

The field functional area is then ready for input in the master data of the G/L accounts, cost elements and certain CO account assignment objects. This means that you can enter the function area in the master data. No function area is derived for postings in this company code.

    Active

For postings in this company code, function areas are derived and updated.

Hence, there is no harm in changing the status from "1" to "2", after you go live. It's only that the auto population of functional area from any master data (e.g. GL, cost element etc) would only happen once the status is changed to 2.
