Hi,

Would like to check whether is it possible to combine SAP B1 License for two companies.

Eg. I got a customer who have few subsidiaries, say ABC and ABC Technology.

Now ABC have purchase 5 B1 Pro license and ABC Technology have bought 3 B1 Pro License.

Because ABC and ABC Technology are using the same server, only one license key need to be generate combining both to get 8 B1 Pro License.

Is this possible?

Thanks

Hi,

If you want to use a single license for a user in 2 databases then the

usercode of the user in both the databases should be same.

Please refer to the following example.

User created in company A : 'Test'

User Created in Company B : 'Test'

Then a single license will be used the user in both the database.

But if : User Created in Company B : 'test'

Then 2 licese require for the users in both the database.

I hope it will help you to resolve the issue.

Best regards,

Lucy Shen

Hi Lucy,

Thank you for your prompt reply.

But what I want to check is when SAP generate the license key for me, as both company databases is in one server.

I need SAP to generate only one license key for me instead of two (where one is for ABC and another is for ABC Technology)

P/S: License for ABC Technology is purchased much later.

Thanks.

Sounds like you will have to make sure the purchase information sent to SAP (for SAP B1) contains details on both ABC and ABC Technology. You will have to treat it like a holding company, that has ABC and ABC Technology under it.

So every time licenses are purchased, it goes to the Holding Company in the Licensing Portal. Under this, you can either elect to create a new install and call it ABC and then apply for 5 Pro users (check the contractual info link). When ABC Technology purchases the 3 Pro licenses, this should reflect in the contractual info, then you will have to amend the original license file (change the Pro Licenses to 8 and re-download the key).

If you've treated both ABC and ABC Technology as separate entities on the SAP Licensing Portal, then you will have to contact your SAP Partner Manager to work out how to bring both companies together because of the License Server running on one server.
