    Hi,

Integration Engine is the runtime environment for SAP XI. Integration Engine performs the following pipeline steps.

    1) Receiver Determination

    2) Interface Determination

    3) Message Split

    4) Mapping

    5) Technical Routing

    6) Call Adapter

    Thanks,

    Vivek LR.

    Hi,

The Integration Engine is the runtime environment of the SAP Exchange Infrastructure.

The Integration Engine enables you to process XML messages exchanged between applications in heterogeneous system landscapes. Both applications of SAP components and external applications can communicate with the Integration Engine.

When the Integration Engine receives an XML message, it processes it using its pipeline; which comprises the following processing steps:

    ● Inbound processing with logical and technical routing, and message branching

    ● Outbound processing with mapping and the receiver call

Routing relates to the receivers of an XML message, which must be localized within the existing system landscape.

Logical routing determines the name of the receiver and the receiver interface; technical routing queries the communication channel (the physical address) in the Integration Directory that is required to call this interface.

During mapping, values and structures of the sender and receiver application are mapped to each other.

Xi messages are passed through a set of processing steps called XI pipeline

    Source msg> *Receiver determination>Interface Determination>Message split-> Message mapping --> Technical Routing --> Call Adapter* --> Target Msg

    Hi

Following pipeline steps takes place whille exceuting message in XI:-

    1.Receiver determination

    2. Interface Determination-

    3. Message split

    4. Message mapping

    5. Technical Routing

    6. Call Adapter

    Hi,

Routing, Mapping and channel determination steps are involved in the Integration engine(IE).

    HI

The following pipeline steps take place at the Integration Engine Level

    PIPELINE Steps:

    Receiver Identification:

To determine which systems should participate in an exchange with the incoming message.

Interface Determination: For each receiver system determine which interface should receive a message.

    Message Branch:

If multiple receivers are found, XI instantiate a new message for each receiver

    Request Message Mapping:

Call the mapping program to transform the message structure to the receiver format.

    Outbound Binding:

Bind a specific destination and protocol to the message.

    Call Adapter:

Send the transformed message to the adapter or proxy.

    cheers
