Hi,
Use T.code:MMNR
In the Menu Click Group -> maintaion-> again click Group->insert
Next Screen
define
Number range group text
From Number ______________________ and TO Number___________
and
double click "your newly cretaed material type"
and select check box of your "Number Range Group text "and click Element/Group in the Application Bar ( you can see ur your newly cretaed material type is assigned to Number Range Group text ) and Save.
In the above way you can assign number range to newly cretaed material type .

Sir according to your suggetion i had done entire settings in MMNR , but my system is not yet taking no.ranges according to material type in MIGO ( Goods Receipt ).I expect that when i make GR fron t - code MIGO f any raw material or packing material system should take different no. ranges as per my settings.
Plz suggest me how to do this setting. I am on line waiting for your reply.

The procedure is first of all take the decision whether ur raw and packing material will have same number range or not.
if same then u can create one number range and give a group name and assign both the raw material type and packing material type in MMNR.If different, then create two number range and give two group and assign respectively. Also make it sure whether the number ranges willbe internal/external.
Now create material thru mm01 with the material types and check what number ranges it is taking.

indranil
Hi,
Ok. You are talking about materail document.A material document is identified by a document number and the material document year. An accounting document is identified by the company code, the document number, and the fiscal year.
Use the path:
SPRO --> materials management --> Inventory management and physical inventory --> Number range assignment -->
Under this path you can maintain number ranges for accounting documents and material documents.
1. Accounting documents (OMBA)
2. Material documents (OMBT)
The following doc are:
Goods receipts for purchase orders
WE or WN
Goods receipts for orders
WE
Goods issues, transfer postings, other goods
WA
Goods issues for deliveries
WL
Material document w.r.t materail type, no idea.Try for any User Exit available.

Hi Abhijeet,
Goto MMNR, click on the groups and go to group- insert group (F6) maintain intervals that u required. and come back and select the material type and select element(F2) and then mark ur group and then click on element/group.
The same way u follow for other material type.
This solve ur problem.
Ok

hi
After creating number range you have to assign that number range to material type.
SPRO> LOG GEN>material master> basic setting>> material type>assign number range.
Then while creating material when you will fill the material type system will automatic take the number assigned.

Vijay
