Hi,
I failed to instal CRM 5.0 business package in to the Portal.
My portal is on the ECC server.
Can i do this ?
My Basis team is saying that we cant do it as some CRM Components will be missed.
Tell me a possible solution for this.
Bazee
Chowdary,
Have youtried to deploy the Business Packages using SDM (Software Deployment Manager)?
What is the error you are facing while doing the deployment?
Get back to us about the detailed versions of all the components like Portal Version,Support Pack,CRM and paste the Log file entries about the errors. We can dig more then to analyze the issue

We have followed this wiki

Can we import the crm bp into a portal which is connected to ECC.
Thanks,
Mr.Chowdary
Chowdary,
You can deploy CRM Business Package in to EP (connected to ECC).
You have the solution for the error that you face in that WIKI.
Like login to SDM and go to the ->SDM Repository Tab->Select "Deployment Parameter Substitutions"->Click Add icon ->Add the variable like below:
Variable:
com.sap.cm.share
Value:
/usr/sap/<your_SID>/SYS/global/config/cm.
Start the deployment again and proceed further.
This should resolve the issue.

Karthick Eswaran
