Reorder point planning with MD02

Hi Friends,

A material "A" with MRP type VB is called in its header material say "X" and when I run MRP (MD02) for "X", dependent requirements are not generated for "A", though planning file entries for "A" are there.

But if I run MRP (MD03) for material "A", purchase requisition got generated for reorder quantity.

I am interrested to know any configuration is needed to have dependent requirements by running MRP for "X".

VB is a consumption based planning procedure. For materials with consumption based planning procedures there will be no BOM explosion. It will be planned only if stock level will go below a certain reorder point. However for system to plan this material you have to run MRP at plant level i.e. MD01. Only then you will get requirements for Materials with consumption based planning procedures.

As our other expert said , if you set MRP type PD for material A then system will triggers its PR during MRP through MD02 for its Header Material X.

Onr more thing in reorder point system will never concider dependent requirements or any other reservation , but it only see the Reorder Point. Whenever your stock will fall below that point system will makes the entry in Planing file for MRP.In reorder base planing MRP will trigger either by MD01 (Total MRP) or by MD03(Single item single level).

Hi Kumar,

As you know VB is consumption based planning it will not get trigerred in MD02

Why it is working in MD03 is you are giving that particular material so sys check that MRP type is VB & gives the proposal

Whereas in MD02 sys will not consider MRP tyep "VB" at the down levels

As in MD03,it will also work fine with MD01 as here sys check all the material maintined in the plant

'A' should have PD mrp type for purchase requisition.i suggest you to maintained PD in material master of A and maintained PD in X also. in that case only both material will planned.if you have to take MRP at header level i.e X,

if you maintained VB then you have to take MRP at A to creates proposals.
