How to create Alerts

Hi Experts !

We have a production system running which will throw errors at the Adapter level(Receiver) .I want to create an Alert which will send a mail automatically whenever such errors occur at Adapter level.

So, please guide me how to proceed with or send me some blogs related to this.

Pls ask me if u need any clarrifications.
