Mechanism of DataSource 0RT_PA_TRAN_CONTROL

Dear Experts,

In our project, we need to extract data from SAP CAR at /POSDW/TLOGF table.

I would like to know the mechanism of data extraction through the standard datasource 0RT_PA_TRAN_CONTROL. I have read the SAP note mentioning that this datasource supports only Init w/o data and Delta modes. Hence, I encounter the following questions.

- What is the normal steps to extract delta? Do I need to run anything before to transfer to RSA7?

- I would like to know how to extract historical data? Do I need to reset the status of PIPE data, so the historical data can be captured through Delta Process? If yes, how to reset the status?

- What is the purpose of T-Code /n/POSDW/MON0.

Thank you so much for your guidance.

Best regards,

Hi,

Please see answers below based on my experience.

- What is the normal steps to extract delta? Do I need to run anything before to transfer to RSA7?

***No need to run anything like setting up a table. Just run it first INIT WITHOUT DATA then DELTA extraction afterwards.

- I would like to know how to extract historical data? Do I need to reset the status of PIPE data, so the historical data can be captured through Delta Process? If yes, how to reset the status?

***You may ask your POSDM consultant on the program to re-run the historical transactions which were not captured during your DELTA. The program I used before was /posdw/pipedispatcher. You may also check the /POSDW/CHANGE_TASKSTATUS. I think the former is for multiple transactions while the latter is for single transaction. Just verify them with your POSDM guys.

- What is the purpose of T-Code /n/POSDW/MON0.

***This is the tcode to create a sample transaction. After processing your transaction, you can see that the data was already transferred to RSA7 ready to be loaded in BW.

Vikrant Mohite is the BW and POSDM guy here that I know. I learned a lot from him. ;-)

Vikrant, please verify my answers. :-D

Regards,

Loed

Thank you so much for your input.

>>> As we will deploy our BW Data model after SAP POSDM has gone live. Some transactions have been posted beforehand. That's the reason I try to reload those historical data. From your input, I just run the program /posdw/pipedispatcher then those records will be transferred to RSA7, right?

- What is the purpose of T-Code /n/POSDW/MON0.

***This is the tcode to create a sample transaction. After processing your transaction, you can see that the data was already transferred to RSA7 ready to be loaded in BW.

>>> I am still confused with the T-Code /n/POSDW/MON0. This is to create only Sample transactions, or it is used to monitor the transactions whether they are transferred to RSA7 yet?

>>> Do you have any experience in creating a generic datasource for the table /POSDW/TLOGF? I tried to create one referring to the table; however, it seems that this table refers to other tables. Hence, the error message is raised when I create the generic datasource.

Hey Loed Despuig I'm glad you learned something from me and always happy to share my knowledge.

I found most of your responses are correct.

@ Nondhakorn Ngernpermsp

/n/POSDW/MON0 for POS DM is RSA1 of BW (In simple words it is Workbench transaction where you can do many things apart from monitoring but not everything).

Since you BW has gone live post POS DM I believe you have not yet executed task (standard is 0001 you might have configured your own) to supply data in BW delta queues. If for some reason yes you have already executed, then extract the queues to PSA as mentioned by Loed. If no then execute the task to upload in delta queue and extract it.

If your task is in completed status and you have no data in delta queues ensure to get task reset to ready state and no reversal entries are updated in your PSA.

/POSDW/TLOGF is POS DM tlogs table and can contain duplicate data. So never attempt to build direct DS on it unless you use ABAP program for appropriate validation (I will never recommend as POS DM gives you all ).

I hope this helps. :)

Thanks,

Vikrant.
