    Hi

based on the Client requiremnt you can specify the structure , there is no standard practise of using or structuring the materials as we do for WBS elements in Project system

    Thanks & Regards

    Hi,

Material number assignment is based on the material type so when you create material master at that time you must define that for which material type the material is created. Now based on that it will determine the group of that material type and based on group it will determine the number range and type of number assignment (internal or external)

Incase, if you do not assign material type to any group then external number range is possible without check against material number range.

    u2022Go to MMNR transaction code

    u2022Click on groups (change mode)

u2022You will find your newly created material type in "not assigned" section at bottom

u2022Single click on that and then click on "Select element button (F2)

u2022Then select the group which you want to assign

    u2022Then click on "Assign Element/Group" button (F5)

    Hope it helps,

    Regards,

    Archit
