Hi

I want to define the Litres in unit of measurement where can i define.

If I define at Administration--->Setup->Inventory----->Length & Width UoM I can give the code, Unit name, and what

will be the volume code and Length(mm)

If I define at Administration--->Setup->Inventory----->Weight UoM I can give the code, Unit name, and what will be the

Weight(mg)

So where can I define the UoM Litres.

My Client will purchase the consumables in litres I can define the Purchasing UoM as ltr in Inventory----->Purchasing tab

Sandy,

Litre as you mentioned should be defined in Inventory----->Purchasing tab

Since the Weight is in (Mg) you need to calculate 1 litre = ? Mg

Hi Sandy,

If you want to purchase the consumables in litres (purchase unit), the key point is what unit is used for storage.

For example, you purchase in litres but sell in millilitre (the minimum unit for storage). You don't need to define the 'litres'.

Just enter 'litre' in the Item Master Data-> purchase tab-> 'Purchasing UoM' field and 1000 in 'Items per Purchase Unit' field.

When you add new purchase document, just select 'no' in 'Base Units' field on the line for this item and you can purchase purchase in litres but sell in millilitre.

Hi,

As you said I can enter 'litre' in the Item Master Data-> purchase tab-> 'Purchasing UoM' field and 1000 in 'Items per Purchase Unit' field.

When you add new purchase document, just select 'no' in 'Base Units' field on the line for this item and you can purchase purchase in litres but sell in millilitre.

I didn't get you at just select 'no' in 'Base Units' field on the line for this item

Sandy,

The answer holds good only if you sell in millilitres.

Whats your Sales UOM. If it is litres then there should be no problem.

Hi Sandy,

When you open marketing document window, you can make the field ' base unit' shown by Form settings.

When you select item in document line, the default setting for the field baseunit is 'No' - when this is selected the system will take the figure you put in the Qty field times Item per Purchase/Sales Unit defined for the Item.

In your scenario, qty 1 stands for 1 litre and the stock quantity will incrated by 1000 since the minimum unit for storage is milliliter.

When baseunit is 'Yes' - It means that the system will take the figure in the Qty field. A base unit is always 1.

If the field Item per Purchase/Sales Unit has not been defined for the item the baseunit field will not be active as it does not fill a function.

The information on this is available in the online help, you can do a search for 'base unit' and check the articles

on 'Sales/Purchase document: Content tab'.

Hope it is helpful!

Suda is also correct. Maybe I make the issue complicated myself.

If you purchase in litre and sell in litre as well. Then, the quantity stands for litre. You will not need the 'base unit' field.

HI Sandy,

If there is no sales for this item then maintain the following

1. If you are purchasing the item in Ltrs ...then mainatain the Purchasing UOM as lItres

2. Your inventory for this item is maiantained in litres then mainatain in the item master in the inventory tab the inventory UOM as litres.

Hope this helps
