Is an Upgrade always a full life cycle implementation?

Hi All,

I am Kumar.

My question is:

1)Is an Upgrade(say from R/3 4.7 to ECC 5.0) essentially a full life cycle implementation? There also can we do data migration using LSMW tool just as we migrate data from legacy system to SAP? At what ASAP phase does data migration come?

2) What is the difference between unit testing and integration testing? What is the role of a MM functional guy in testing?

3) What is the role of an MM functional guy in workflow?

Regards,

Kumar

Hi,

Upgrade is not a full life cycle impemenetation.

Already data's are there in SAP.

You are just going copy the datas from the old version to new version.

Hi,

Rollout is not a full life cycle implementation.

If a Company has two branches,in the first branch SAP is implemented. In the second branch if they want to implement SAP means they just do the RollOut from the first Company due to being the same company, the business process study need not be done again and whatever changes which is required from the first company will be done during the Rollout project od the second.

LSMW is a tool which is used to migrate data from the Legacy to SAP system, which will be done during the Cut-Over phase.

Unit testing will be done in a Module.(for example,if you done the config part of Relase strategy in SPRO,while doing PO whether with respect to the inputs in PO,Release strategy is affected or not.

Integration Testing will be done with the cross modules.(for example after doing MIRO, whether the same values is carried over in FICO module while doing the transaction for Vendor Payment using PO.

MM guy in Work flow will give the inputs to the Ababper what are the transaction and values to be taken for triggering the Work Flow.( for example once you click the SAVE button in PO, the release strategy will be triggered which will go the Inbox of the Manager who will release and which gets updated in the PO)

Reward points if Useful.
