Hi,

I use visual studio 2015 and crystal reports v13.0.2.

I created a report that used as dataset a net. objects , so a class in my project.

But now I have a problem adding a .net object . When I try to select a .net objects from the database expert a popup appears (ADO.NET XML ) where I need to fill in a file path.

But I don't know what to fill in. Already tried with a new report and a new class but no luck.

Also the set datasource location is grayed out.

Can you help me?

Hi Eric,

Upgrade to SP 22 here:

https://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/BOBJ/Crystal+Reports%2C+Developer+for+Visual+Studio+Downloads

On that page is a test app for connecting to Datasets:

https://blogs.sap.com/2016/02/17/how-to-parameters-in-crystal-reports-for-visual-studio-net/

Just need to create a data source using the same structure as the DS.

Easy way is to export your DS to a XML format then create the report off the XML file, must include the Structure (XSD) in the XML file.

Sample above has code on using it now.

Be aware Datasets are very limited to the size, using XML is better up to a point. Ideally hit the DB using ODBC, OLE DB or the native Client
