    Hi,

    Variants:

There are many variants exists/ create in BI, like BEX/WAD query variants,Process Chain Variants, system variants etc. A variant is a set of a specific variables value that you can save on a selection screen and then save in order to use it later (without putting again the same value/filters)...

Example1.Query Variant: so for example i have a variable in my query with ready to input option...so when ever i run the query it will be asking me to give inputs so instead of that i can fill a value and save it as a variant. so no need of giving the value for variable when the query runs next time.

You can see all varients in table RSRVARIANT & the person responsible for creation of varients in table RSRVARIANTDIR .Variants in 2004s are stored in table RSRPARAMETRIZA

Example2.Fiscal Variant: is a variant defining the relationship between the calendar and fiscal year. The fiscal year variant specifies the number of periods and special periods in a fiscal year and how the SAP System is to determine the assigned posting periods.

Fiscal Year is a period of usually 12 months, for which the company produces financial statements and takes inventory. A fiscal year need not correspond to the calendar year

Example3.Variant (used in Process Chains): Each process has its own variant (a variant is a set of parameters passed to the process, such as the name of the InfoObject to perform a change run for,the name of the InfoPackage to use for loading, or the name of the InfoCube to drop the indexes for). While many variants may be available for a specific process, only one gets assigned.
