Custom Modifications when Track Updates

Hi Ppl,

Just wanted to know what happens to the custom modifications whenever there's a track update performed.

Will all the custom changes made will disappear or will remain?

Santosh,

you can use a third party merge/diff tool by making the settings in Windows->Prefferences->Team->DTR->ExternalDiff/Merge

or

you can use the merge/diff tool in the NWDS to compare different tracks and merge them manually by going through the differences in each file manually.

Hi Laxmi,

Sorry to say and trouble you, but am still unclear. Just assume that i completely new to this part (which I am) and if you can provide me some detailed documentation, that will be great.

I went to the path but again lost there on what next to do. Please help me if you can. Also, 'merge' meaning do i need to again open the code, create activity, check in and transport or some other way by just a click of button?

We are planning to do an upgrade and wanted to

merge all our customizations with the new BP.Is it possible with some kind of merge tool without

having to re-write the code?

I havent used the diff/merge tool in NWDS but used an external merge tool.

Hi Santosh,

if the modifications are made to the SAP dc's then yes it will be replaced. So you need to create a new track with the latest sp and then merge it with ur previous productive track which holds ur customizations.

Thanks for your response. I need to know how can i merge the changes in my new track? Do i need to re-develop all the custom modifications made or is there any other way to do so?

Also, i checked with NWDI cookbook which refers for DC comparison. I've tried it in NWDS but it gives the output in XML format. And the DTR workspace comparison tool gives output in XML format which i feel is helpless to identify new changes. Any suggestions on this?
