Selection of Values in Free charcteristics

Hello,

Can some one please help me with the below:

Our users are asking if they can pass fixed values in to filters with in the free chracteristics of a web report. For example, the user runs a report and he has to select 70 Materials from the filter where we have around 3000 Materials.

Another user has to select 40 of his materials from the same 3000 Materails. Like wise each of the user delas with particular materials which are of his area. They are now complaining that it is very tough to select their materials from the list (3000) every time.

What is the best way, that each user can select his own list in the filter of free characteristics.......Like using an excel to upoad his list or book mark etc....It is likely that materials will change for the user and so book mark may not be very helpful.

Can you please suggets as how I need to go about this?

Regards,

TRA.

    Hi,

From the report resreict the mateerial numbers required for one user and Save it as an View or work book.

The the user can open the view related to him. so that the user does not want to select 40 or 80 material numbers every time.

Also if you create it as a work book you cannot execute in Web.

Better create it as a View.

    Regards

    Hi,

Well a user must be selecting his list of 'n' materials based on some criteria... what i mean is for a user, he must be interested in a logical group of materials.

    For example :

A user is responsible for a certain brand, which has 'n' number of materials.

Include this logical group as a variable . In the above case it is Brand.

When the query is executed for the first time it takes up all the materials for the defined group (brand as in the eg).

Make this variable a multi select option as a user may have more than groups assigned to him.

In this case he will have a subset of materials from where he will have to select.

Hope this is of some use

    Regards,

    Godhuli

    Hello Godhuli,

Thanks a lot for the reply. Although your answer doesn't solve our user problem completely, it is a great idea. I will see if I can implement some reports in the way you have suggested and ask your opininon:-)

    Thanks again for the answer.

    Have a nice day.
