Difference between Eng BOM and Prod BOM

Dear Gurus ,

I want to know difference between Eng BOM and Prod BOM . We have standard multilevel engineering BOM but if I use that BOM for routing assignment I can only see 1 st level components . Can I put all components in single level so that I can assign them in FG routing and pick list will have all the components ?

We are thinking of considering all assy as phantom so that there would be only one prod order for FG .

Hi,

Yes for only one production order for the FG, u will have to maintain only single level BOM. you can then have all the components in routing for allocation also.

Engineering BOM is basically not relevant for production and costing, unlike production BOM.

You can assign multilevel BOM components to a

single Routing (through Routing Groups), but

you cannot assign component allocation to more than

a single material (radio button) - this component

allocation inturn reflects when planned orders are

converted into production orders

Regarding difference between Engg and Production BOM,

Engg BOM is used for design purpose (Item Category D - Document)

and not used in the production of the finished product.

and Production BOM is used in the production of the finished

product (Item Category L)

Hi

Engg BOM is use ful if the clinet implement ECM, DMS modules. Engg BOM is nothing but design BOM. Usage production means process BOM, usage Engg means design BOM. It will helpful for document managment systems moudle.
