Retreiving a Document from eDMS

Hi guys,

i have a challenge here, it is requested from us to integrate a non-sap .net software with SAP ECC 6, the challenge is as the following:

We need to create a form, that will retrieve a certain document from eDMS and display it back to the form.

is it possible, and how i should carry it on?

OK, since you are also insisting to help me let me put you in the picture.

We have a Training Software "LMS", which teaches employees how to operate certain gadgets on the plant. These learning materials are basically the work instructions of the plant. Currently we are keeping them on DMS.

Before we were keeping copies of them, one is inside DMS and the other resides on a shared folder, but that causes our last plant shutdown, because they forgot to update the shared folder document when they updated DMS document.

So we are ordered now to connect Training Software to DMS Document, so that when a learner wants to read he shall read the document in the DMS -which is the most updated.

Training Software is .Net, and what i want to do is, i want to let this software to read from the DMS directly.

we have ECC 6 Ver 7, EP V 7, XI V 7.

I have read little on how to retrieve it as a web service, but i don't believe we have, because we are in the process of deploying XI, and it will take another 1 month or so.

I do really appreciate your replies. But I would be thankful if you tell me how to read a document from DMS via .Net Connector.

Ok, that is really helpfull.

But to start this, should I have SOA implemented? or I can achive it without it. The second thing is can you help me in HOW to achive it. I want to retrive a simple document, I want the steps (High Level).

you have to have SAP ERP 6.0 and SAP enhancement package 1 for SAP ERP 6.0

implemented.

SAP DMS offers Web Services that allow to download, store and maintain documents stored in SAP DMS.
