Can't access MMC

Former Member

Hi,

I am suddenly getting an error when trying to access MMC to start my application server. I get an "I18N Initialization" dialog that says "Could not open libsapu16vc71.dll" which appears twice, then one that states that the application is terminating. This happens when I try to expand the "SAP Systems" node in MMC, which previously worked fine. I am working on a version 7.0 SP7 application server.

I looked in the windows\system32 folder on my system, and this dll is indeed not there, but libsapu16vc80.dll is. Any ideas on how this might have happened or how to remedy the situation? I noticed the problem after rebooting due to some windows updates.

Thanks

Hi

Please follow this note:

Note 522119 - Shared library libsapu16 (DLL for Unicode programs)

If this one would not solve or try to solve the issue, then follow this thing:

Execute program R3dllins.exe on your host.

You can find the program on the Installtion/Upgrade Master CD in the NT\I386\NTPATCH folder. It must be executed before you start prepare and directly from the NTPATCH folder (it can be shared).

Thank you for the response. Reading the note you referenced, I'm not sure what action to take regarding the missing DLL. What action were you referring to?

Also, I ran the R3dllins.exe you mentioned, but it referred to R/3 dlls, and I don't have R/3 installed, only a Java AS (and Portal), so I cancelled the utility. By the way, the utility's filelist did not include the dll mentioned in this issue. Can you elaborate on what was intended here?

Thanks,

Hi

The problem is related to the files that are also used by SAPGui 710.

Try this

Move (not copy) the following files from C:\Windows\system32 to <drive>\Program Files\SAP\Common Files: librfc32.dll, SAPbtmp.dll, icuin34.dll, and libsapu16vc80.dll

From Control Panel, add <drive>\Program Files\SAP\Common Files to the PATH environment variable.

Else try to upgrade to new SAPGui

SAPGUI upgrade... this rings a bell. Could this problem have anything to do with my recent upgrade of SAPGUI from 640 to 710? I upgraded some time ago, but there is a chance that I hadn't used MMC since, but I'm not sure (as in, I only recently noticed the MMC problem, but could it have been there, just unused since I upgraded SAPGUI?).

Anyway, does this generate any ideas on how to repair?

Actually when you install the SAPGui at the place where MMC is also present, then "Common Files" folder is also changed (the dll files in the folder which are accessed by MMC also).

May be those can be corrupted, so thats why I was specifying to install the SAPgui.

One more thing that you can perform is to upgrade kernel patch (i.e librfc, r3ddlinst and sapmmc)

Thanks for the help. Note 522119 did it after all... (found the library on my system, added location to PATH)

I had the same error "[I18N Initialization] Could not open libsapu16vc71.dll" starting the MMC, after having installed Sap Gui 7.10 on this server. I solved the problem by just copying libsapu16vc71.dll from another server to the Windows system32 directory!

Hi friends

Search the DLL in your system and copy it at the dir where SAPMMC.exe located; It worked for me easily..
