Hi,
Where do we create new depot in SAP. Can anyone tell me the method/ path for this.
Thank you,
Hari
hi,
depot is nothing but plant here in SAP.
plant is nothing but the area, where goods and services are manufactured, kept or planned.
you need to create a plant, while configuring the CIN, you need to specify whether it is manufacturing plant or depot plant.

Dear Hari
1) In ox10 - Define Plant, you have to create the Depot. IMG Path is Enterprise Structure --> Definition --> Logistics-General --> Define, copy, delete, check plant
2) In ox18, you assign the depot to company code. IMG Path is Enterprise Structure --> Definition --> Logistics-General --> Assignment --> Assign Plant to Company Code
In ovx6, you assign sales area to depot. IMG Path is Enterprise Structure --> Definition --> Logistics-General --> Assignment --> Sales and Distribution --> Assign Sales Organization, distribution channel - Plant.
thanks

Dear Hari
Once you receive the material, if no further activities are involved, you can treat it as a Depot. But process like packing etc., is involved, you *should* treat the depot as plant bcoz, as per Central Excise rules, depot should not carry out any manufacturing activity and since packing also comes under the purview of plant process, you have to decide accordingly.
Apart from the IMG settings mentioned above, you also have to maintain the CIN settings in IMG -- Logistics-General --> Tax on Goods Movements --> India. In this, once you select Basic Settings --> Maintain Plant Settings, you have to define whether it should be treated as a Depot or not. If Depot, you have to select the box.

Hi Hari,
The Depot's are treated as Warehouses and created as warehouses.
