what is the maximum size of Custom Idoc?

hi experts,

i want to know the maximum size of an idoc. is there any limit of the number of data records an idoc can have?

how will the performance of idoc transfer affected by increasing the amount of data transfer?

my requirement is to transfer around 25000 records (of 250 chars approx record length) of data using idocs. i created segments and specified the max segments as 99999999. can i transfer 99999999 records at a stretch??
