I want to manually download the latest release, v1.0.3. When I go to the manual download page, it only offers me v1.0.1. How do I get the latest release? Installing the actual report designer into my eclipse is not preferred. I have a licensed running version of crystal reports and I only want the jar files contained within the current release. (It's sad to say, but the files here are more stable than ones I can obtain from any service pack or CHF.)

Currently, the updates are available via the Eclipse Update Manager which will download and install all the latest components including the integrated report designer and the JRC runtime. We are working on providing just the JRC runtime as a separate download but in the meantime you'll have to get the updates via update site. If you do not want the designer in your Eclipse install, what you could do is make a copy of your Eclipse install, download the updates, and then copy the JRC runtime to your main Eclipse folder.

On a side note, can you help me understand why don't want to download the designer? Are you currently using CR4E or are you using the CR XI JRC? In case you weren't aware, the CR XI license keycode will work with the CR4E version of the designer and runtime.

I don't want to install for:

1) I would be the only developer on my team with it installed (differing development environments begs for disaster)

2) There seems to be a real disconnect in how Crystal is begin updated. For example, can you tell which version of the Crystal jars CR4E is using?

I was previously using CR XI R2 jar files in my project. I ran into a snag (JRC failed to honor table alias names) in which the tech rep suggested I "back down" to using the CR4E jar files to fix my problem. I now have a case logged in which the native pervasive driver has a major disconnect while retrieving the data. This fix is in FP2.4 for CR XI R2. See my scenario? What is being fixed in one release is getting broken in another.

My only purpose with the JRC is to run the reports. I do my design work in the CR designer.

Yes, I am fully aware my key for CR XI works in CR4E as well as CR XI R2.

Thanks for the feedback and if there is anyway of pushing the separate download along, it gets my vote.

Hi Victor! Thanks for comments and feedback. Just to clarify, CR4E is newer than CR XI R2 so any fixes that is released for CR XI R2 should also be rolled into the CR4E releases. If you know the ID of the issue you are referring to (see the readme.pdf for FP2.4), I can make sure that it gets rolled into CR4E.

I have been plugging along now for over 2 years trying to accomplish my mission using CR as one of my tools. I am getting excited to finally see (from my perspective anyway) that someone is actually beginning to feel my pain and am being supplied with pain relievers.

The ID you ask about is ADAPT00766258. Basically, the problem is any time I have date fields included in my report, the record selection nullifies the date field when using Pervasive's native driver.

I spoke with the case manager yesterday afternoon and he mentioned pushing it up on the radar screen for the 1.0.4 release (he also stated it just need more testing prior to being released). He then marked my case as waiting for said release.

Side question, any idea when I can get the full arsenal of API calls in the JRC like I get if I was using the RAS?

Hi Victor! I looked up the details for that defect and it looks like it is fixed in the current CR4E JRC (1.0.3). I checked the readme for the release (see above for link) and it contains this as a fixed defect. Would you please verify this for me? I know you don't want to download the designer, but getting the current version via Eclipse Update Site should give you this fix.

As for the full RAS SDK, we're working on making this happen for the next release.

We bought CR Developer (CR XI JRC, I guess). Now it seems that CR4E is basically the same product since the run time jar files seem to be interchangable. Is it the same and if so why spend money for one and not the other?

When will the RAS SDK compatible version be released?

When you release the RAS SDK capabilities with CR4E will that include the ability to export to Excel. The API's and code examples for CR XI JRC show that it is there in that version also, but the function doesn't work. I recommended this approach to my client and now am scramalbing to get a solution to work.

Actually we are working on releasing both features for the next release. We are planning on releasing an updated SDK (ie: RAS SDK) and plan to support excel exporting at the same time. This is still work in progress so dates are not yet available.

I create a separate eclipse environment and download the designer then abstracted the new jar files. Pervasive appears to be working so far in my tests.

I really wasn't requesting a full RAS SDK but the same API calls that are available in the RAS to be included in the JRC. One item that comes to mind is having access to the formula definitions just as I have access to the parameter definitions.
