We are developing Crystal Reports for a .Net 2.0 website and some of the reports give the error "The report you requested requires further information" instead of displaying the report on the page. Below this message, text boxes are shouwn asking for "server name", "database name", "user name", & " password". All are filled in except "database name" is blank. The text boxes cannot be typed into, so the missing database name cannot even be added at this point.

The report works fine when we preview it in the designer and other reports that are created the same way work fine. The all use the same .Net code to send the database login and parameters to the reports. We have not been able to figure out what the trigger is that causes this problem. We have been able to fix the problem by using "set datasource location" to re-establish the connection within the designer. Sometimes we have to change the datasource multiple times before it actually works though. Sometimes it just plain doesn't work ever and we have to rebuild the report from scratch.

Has anyone seen this error and is there some way to avoid it. It seems to happen very randomly. A report that worked fine for months will start giving this error after making a simple change to it in the designer and re-saving it. I really would like to know what causes this error so I can avoid it.

We've got a call into CR support (that we had to pay $195 for) and still don't have a solution after 3 days. We have been able to find other people with the same problem on other forums, but nobody has posted a solution yet.

Please help.
