Start an SQL trace on transaction ST05 and contact your DBA to check if he can create an index.

    Hello Shilpa,

    >how do i improve the performance of report

Identify the slow parts / SELECTs of the report and after that you can try to improve the performance

    >Performance should be improved at the database level

Yeah, but are you sure that it is the database?

Analyze your transaction with SE30 and check the runtime parts. Here is the official documentation for SE30 which explains the output, etc. - you can also go in detail on table level: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2005vp/helpdata/en/c6/617cafe68c11d2b2ab080009b43351/frameset.htm
